Overview
These two hills are at the south-west corner of the Mounth plateau, east of Glen Shee. The great dome of of Glas Maol, the highest in the area, rises 3km south-east of the Carnwell Pass on the A93, where the plateau narrows between Garbh-choire and the Caenlochan Glen. A long ridge extends south-west from Glas Maol to Creag Leacach, which has a relatively, stony summit ridge.
