Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Godley station.

Transport to Walk Start: 09:33 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Hadfield).

Suggested Ticket: Broadbottom Off Peak Return £7.30

Walk Start: Godley Railway Station at 10:00

Waypoints: Newton Cricket Club, Higher Matley Hall. Harrop Edge, Mottram Old Hall, Hall Farm, Swallow Wood, Arnfield Reservoir, Woolly Bridge, Melandra Castle, The Hague, Mottram Church, Hurstclough Brook, Hodgefold

Return Services: 15.59 then xx:30 ,xx:59

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. There is no toilet at walk start. No toilets en route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)

This is a linear walk from Godley to Broadbottom, passing the earthwork remains of the Roman Fort at Melandra Castle and the beautiful Mottram church. There will also be great views from Harrop Edge over Tameside.

We will be walking over open fields which will probably be boggy, so please wear appropriate footwear (no trainers)

There is a possible bail out point at Arnfield Reservoir where there are busses to Ashton-under-Lyne
