Starts at Groombridge car park opposite the post office. EX135. Alternatively park on the street. Enjoy the rolling hills of the High Weald following the Sussex Border path from Groombridge to Hartfield. (Winnie the Pooh country!). Lunch in Withyham - the Dorset Arms - or bring sandwiches and eat in the grounds of St Michaels and All Angels Church (the burial place of Vita Sackville-West -and many other Sackvilles). Then continue through Buckhurst Park then the High Weald Landscape trail back towards Groombridge. Good views and lots of interest throughout.
About 11 miles and moderately hilly - about 950 feet of ascent/descent. May shorten depending on the weather! Be prepared for mud and whatever else January may throw at us!
There’s no need to book if you want to come on this walk. Just turn up on the day.
