Overview

Hello Everyone

Easter Sunday and we're walking locally to avoid the crowds in the more popular tourist areas, but to compensate please note we have a Peak District walk lined up for the following week, i.e. Sunday 27th April, details of which will be published next week.

Anyway, walk leader Eve and most of the group have just returned from a successful few days walking in Cumbria, so a local walk suits everybody just now. Her route includes a mix of field footpaths, tracks, and a bit of road walking to pull it all together. Approximately 10 stiles, no serious hills, and hopefully very little mud as it's been dry for a quite a while now.

As always, please feel free to join us - we're friendly! It'd be great if you could let us know you're coming along if this is your very first time with the group, thank you. If you've been before just turn up.

Registration: 09.45.  Walk start: 10.00.  Walk leader: Eve (07894 947955)

No facilities at the start or during the walk itself although if you're travelling from afar loo's are available in Burntwood Leisure Centre WS7 3XH a mile from the start. If you're arriving from Cannock via the A5190 you pass the leisure centre entrance on your left along Chasetown High Street.

⚠️Our own members should note there's no rendezvous in Hednesford for this local event. Please drive direct to the start.

Post walk refreshments at the Uxbridge Arms in nearby Chasetown with it's most excellent range of real ales & ciders, or a coffee if you prefer.

See you on Sunday morning folks!

Directions: The start is located in Wharf Lane, Chasetown, approximately one mile north of the A5 near Brownhills, or an equidistant five miles between Cannock and Lichfield via the A5190. What3words recommended for total satnav accuracy. Screenshots of the final approaches in the photos above.

From the A5: Take the turning for Burntwood and the M6 Toll at the lights north of Brownhills and proceed for 200 yards to the island where straight over, to shortly pass over the M6T bridge. At the next island (known locally as The Triangle) turn left into Hanney Hay Road, direction Chasetown.

After 250 yards turn left into Wharf Lane and park on the road side. It's a cul-de-sac, so not busy.

From Hednesford & Cannock: Pick up the A5190 eastbound at Five Ways Island, Heath Hayes, and follow for 1 mile to the next island where second exit (A5190 Miners Way). Proceed for 0.65 mile to the next island where turn left, still A5190.

Continue, over another island, and pass Morrisons on your left. Immediately after Morrisons turn right at the next island into High Street, Chasetown, and continue for 0.65 mile over the crest of the hill and into the business end of High Street, over the speed bumps, and all the way to the bottom where over the mini-island to then turn left at the next mini-island in front of the Co-op and into Highfield Road, Chasetown.

Proceed down Highfield Road for 0.5 mile to the crossroads where turn right into Wharf Lane where park on the roadside. It's a cul-de-sac, so not busy.

From Lichfield: Via the A5190 direction Burntwood to the lights on the very edge of town. Straight over these for 150 yards then fork left into Norton Lane, Burntwood, and follow the course of the road for 0.6 mile to the T-junction with Hospital Road where turn left.

Follow Hospital Road for another 0.6 mile and near the foot of the hill fork right on the bend, still Hospital Road but no longer the main road as such. Continue for 200 yards to the crossroads with Highfield Road where give way and straight over into Wharf Lane where park on the roadside. It's a cul-de-sac so not busy.
