A medium pace linear walk from Harpenden to St Albans City Station, through parks, common land, the newly established Heartwood Forest with countryside views, the pretty Childwickbury country estate with views out to another estate, Gorehambury, and the historic city of St Albans.
Lunch will be at Sandridge village, where there are three public houses, a tearoom and a churchyard with a few benches for picnic lunches. Please bring food with you, as there may not be time for a pub lunch.
There are no steep ascents or descents on this walk.
Drop-out point: there are infrequent buses from Sandridge to St Albans or Harpenden, including the 357 to St Albans at 13.06 and the 304 to St Albans at 14.56.
