A lovely walk in the Chesham Vale with beautiful views and a mix of fields, woods and ancient hedgerows. The way is surprisingly flat with just a couple of inclines and descents. There are a couple of stiles. We walk in a south easterly direction and then turn south passing Bellingdon farm, which has an array of rare breeds in the fields. We then pass the Bellingdon Farm cottages dating from the 17th century and one time home of the writer D.H.Lawrence. We continue through fields and enter Captains Wood, maintained by the Chiltern Society. We will stop for lunch here on some well placed fallen trees trunks. We then walk east through Ramscoat woods before turning North west and heading back along the woodland edge. We turn off to visit the earthworks and the beautiful Hawridge church. There are also glimpses of Hawridge Court, a privately owned, medieval manor house dating from the 13th century. It is then a short walk back to the start.
We may partake of refreshments in the Full Moon after.
Well behaved dogs are allowed. There may be sheep or horses in some fields so dogs on leads here. We can re-route for horses if we so wish.
