Overview

This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.

Please note this is a linear walk from Kings Langley station to Radlett station - these are on different railway lines, see below for transport information.

This section of the Hertfordshire Way takes in a pleasant mix of rolling countryside, farmland, woodland, parkland, pretty villages, waterways, pubs and relatively quiet roads, before finishing in the bustling large village of Radlett.

We'll skirt the village of Abbots Langley, pass through Bricket Wood Common, cross the River Colne and pause for a packed lunch break at the idyllic Wall Hall Estate, or further on near Aldenham church depending on our pace. We also have a choice of pubs during the walk at Round Bush or Letchmore Heath, which represents the most southerly point of the Hertfordshire Way. The final stretch will see us cross the ancient Roman road of Watling Street (otherwise known as the A5183!).

There are likely to be some paths overgrown with nettles so walkers may want to wear long trousers/leggings even if the weather is warm.

Transport: Kings Langley and Radlett are on different railway lines in/out of London. The quickest public transport between them takes approx. 55 mins including waiting time: Uno bus 602 from Radlett to Bushey (20 mins) then train from Bushey to Kings Langley (8 mins). Drivers may wish to park in Bushey to take the train to the walk start, then catch the bus back to their car at the end (or arrange car sharing). Alternatively you can take trains from home and back, via London if required: Kings Langley is on the West Coast Main Line from Euston, and Radlett is on the Midland Main Line from St Pancras.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.

For information about walking with the group, including our dog policy, please visit the Stag Walkers website.

Booking your place: If you would like to join, you must book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group - see Notes for how to book & what to bring. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place.

Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as places are limited.

Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk.

Please car-share or use public transport if possible. To offer a lift or ask for one from a fellow walker, please use the Meetup event page.

Please:

DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.

Bring a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, appropriate clothing for the conditions and optionally a basic first aid kit.
