This is a lovely walk to the west of Hexham with fine views over the Tyne valley.
Our route climbs steadily up around the edge of Hexham, following a bridleway and minor roads to High Wood and Highside Farm. From here, we pick up the bridleway and old track to Coastley. (Note that this track can be muddy and slippery in places; walking poles are recommended.)
From Coastley, we take a restricted byway to Greenshaw Plain - a right of way that has only relatively recently been reclaimed and added to the Definitive Map. We cross the A69 and return along a bridleway past Baddox Wood and Burnfoot Farm to West Boat. We follow the River Tyne Trail passing Waters Meet and the golf course to Tyne Green.
Advance booking is required for this walk. To reserve your place, please e-mail the walk leader, Sarah D., through the contact box above - and remember to include your mobile number in the mail.
Booking opens on Monday, 9th December.
