This route passes weavers cottages, stone mills; follows old pack horse trails and canal paths. However, the dominant feature is the spectacular landscape: steep wooded hillsides, bleak moorland and craggy river valleys.
Distance is approximately 9-10 miles and has an ascent of about 300m, so should take between 4 and 5 hours to complete. The route contains a good number of steep climbs.
Due to time of year, there are several areas that are muddy and slippy, so decent walking boots are essential.
Unfortunately dogs cannot be permitted due to the presence of livestock.
Starting point is the entrance to Hebden Bridge train station which has a number of services from Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield. The 09:43 service from Leeds arrives at Hebden Bridge at 10:31am.
There is a car park at Hebden Bridge Station, but note it is for rail passengers only. There are other alternative car parks in Hebden Bridge also.
