Overview

Pleasant walk with some inclines through open and wooded areas. The pretty Shropshire village of Hope Bagot is one of the most ancient and sacred sites in the country because of its ancient Yew tree and the holy well beneath its branches. Both the tree and the Holy Well have been dated at over 1600 years old meaning that this has been a sacred site since Roman times. The local people and friends of Hope Bagot put in a lot of time and effort to promote and care for the for the church and it’s historic burial ground.
