Overview

Circular walk, partly on the higher ground of the Lincoln Ridge. We visit the smaller villages of Gelston and Brandon as well as Hough.

Mostly footpaths and farm tracks but one section of road with a good verge.

3 short ascents and 10 stiles.

Some excellent views in fine weather. Also a Saxon church in Hough.

Sheep in one field so dogs are Ok as long as on their leads.

Usual coffee and lunch stops so bring your own provisions as well as something to sit on.

The pub in Hough is open until 4pm on Sunday for anyone wishing to partake of a beverage.

From Newark take the A17 towards Sleaford and turn off left marked Leadenham. In Leadenham turn right at the lights onto the A607 marked Grantham. Drive through Fulbeck and past most of Caythorpe until the sign to the right for Hough and Frieston. Drive through Frieston and on into Hough, past the church on your right and park in the area near the Brownlow Arms pub. Allow 30 mins from Newark.
