This is a nice walk in the countryside, starting from Hunwick. The moderate route, of 5.5 miles, is mainly through dry fields, which I am hoping are still full of buttercups. There is one field that we walk down, some steep steps to walk down to the River Wear, and one incline on the way back to the village. There are about 6 stiles, which are easy to negotiate, and possibly the same number of gates, which will slow us down a little. There may be a few cows around, but they were well out of the way, when I did the walk.
The cafe plan, after the walk, is to use The Quarry Tea House, which you can see at the start point of the walk. The tea room has lots of nice cakes and pastries.
