There is a limit of 20 people for this walk and booking is essential. Please email after 15 February to book.
We climb and decend along the route towards Ivinghoe Beacon, and it is steeper towards the top. We then descend and walk along a road without a pavement. Lunch is at the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe, and there are benches in the nearby churchyard and village green. There is also a cafe next to the playground on the green. Email Annette by Tuesday 18 March if you want a pub lunch.
Most of the return to Tring Station is along the Grand Union Canal. There are four trains an hour back to Euston.
Catch the 09.09 train from Euston, arriving at Tring Station at 09.51. Buy a return to Tring.
It is often cold and windy at the Beacon, so be prepared. There could be muddy sections and uneven, slippery paths, especially in the woods and on bare chalk. Walking boots are essential and a pole would be useful.
There are no toilets at Tring Station.
