One of our first walks of the year!
We'll meet at the leisure centre and do a 12 km loop around the forests on the western side of Inverness. Crossing the canal, we'll head through Torvean towards Craig Dunain. We'll then walk up almost to the top of Craig Dunain (steep in places) and join the Great Glen Way to come back down to the canal, and follow the canal back to the leisure centre. This is a great walk to explore parts of Inverness that you might not usually think to walk, and with a friendly group of people.
Please sign up by 7pm the day before by contacting the walk leader.
If you are a Ramblers member please bring you Ramblers membership card. If you are new to the group and the Ramblers, you are welcome to come and try out 3 walks for free before deciding whether to become a member.
February can have very variable weather, and it may be particularly wet, muddy and slippery! Dress in the layer-principle, with multiple layers that you can put on and take off as needed. Waterproof shoes with good grip, and waterproof jacket and trousers are essential and you may be turned away from the walk if you come without them. Please bring food/snacks and water (a hot flask of tea is a good call especially in winter) to last the walk. If you are unsure how to dress or what to bring please contact the walk leader.
Inverness leisure centre has parking, and is served by public transport from central Inverness.
Toilets are available at the start/end of the walk.
