This walk takes us through the market square in Keswick and down to Friars Crag with a nice view over Derwentwater. A better view is obtained when ascend to the top of Castle Head, before we journey on to the stone circle for lunch. Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. We return to the start via the surfaced former railway track.
