This walk, based around the historic town of Kimbolton, will be a figure of eight, meaning you can walk the morning loop, afternoon loop, or both, as we will return to the start point in Kimbolton for lunch. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re an established member of the group or haven’t walked with us before.
Morning loop
Meet outside the church (St Andrews) near the War Memorial, at the junction of High Street and St Andrews Lane. There is plenty of car parking along High Street, hopefully there will be free spaces on a Sunday. Please park responsibly and be ready to start walking at 10:30am.
We will head out of Kimbolton and walk across the fields to the Western reaches of Grafham water, following the reservoir perimeter walk for a couple of kilometres, before heading back to Kimbolton for lunch. The morning walk is around 6 miles long.
We will have our packed lunch in Kimbolton before heading to the New Sun Inn pub for a quick drink. There probably won’t be time to buy food, so please bring a packed lunch with you.
Afternoon loop
For those walking in the afternoon, please be ready to start at 1:30pm, the start point for the afternoon walk outside the pub (New Sun Inn).
The afternoon walk is shorter, at approximately 5 miles. We will do a loop to the South East of Kimbolton, through Kimbolton School and Park and around the delightfully-named Hungry Hill, before returning to Kimbolton via HoneyHill wood.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re an established member of the group or haven’t walked with us before. Note the walk is a mix of tracks and footpaths and may potentially be muddy in places. Please wear appropriate clothing for walking in the country, and walking boots.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though please note there may be stiles, livestock and other dogs on the walk. Any dog owners are fully responsible for their dog.
