Starting from York Place Car Park, we will head down the B6163 to Abbey Road, where we will follow the path of the Nidd down to Wetherby Road, with a brief stop at St Robert's Cave. We will then cross the bridge on Wetherby Road before coming back down towards Knaresborough on the other side of the river.
We will then walk down Waterside and then pop up some steps up to the castle, where we will enjoy the view of the viaduct and have lunch.
We will then back down to Waterside and head up the Harrogate Ringway Trail onto Bilton Lane, before heading back down to the river and then walking back near the river back to Knaresborough.
This is steady walk on a mixture of terrain. There are the odd one or two hills and climb up steps hence the moderate rating, otherwise it's a relatively easy walk.
Dogs are welcome but may need to stay on leads at times.
For those coming by train, if you can head to the car park for the start that'd be appreciated. We will be ending at the train station though for a drink at the Mitre Inn next to the train station so you can get the train back easily after!
Car park is £1.60 for the day.
