Overview

A springtime walk along the Irthing valley.

The route follows riverside paths and tracks through farmland to Chapelburn before crossing the river Irthing. The route then rises steeply to join the line of Hardrian's Wall, passing the remains of Banks  Turret and Haytongate back to Lanercost.  If the weather is kind there should be extensive views to the Pennines and the Lakeland Fells.

Some walking is on minor roads.
