Lathkill Dale is one of the loveliest and most dramatic Dales in the Peak District. It is seen at it's best in winter when the river emerges from a cave in the hillside and tumbles down the valley through steep sided rocky and wooded banks.
Starting from the attractive village of Monyash, our walk follows the Limestone Way across open country, crossing steep sided Cales Dale on the way to Back Lane and down through Meadow Place Grange into the Dale itself. From here there is a superlatively beautiful 3 mile ramble along the banks of the River Lathkill, undoubtedly the highlight of the walk. We then emerge through a rocky gorge at the head of the Dale from which there is a short stroll back to Monyash.
Underfoot conditions will be boggy so please wear appropriate hiking gear and footwear.
