Lazonby to Armathwaite

Linear walk from Lazonby Station to Armathwaite Station. We start by going down some steps to the main road and turning left then left again to Fiddler's Lane,along this lane we turn right onto the path which takes us to Eden bridge, we cross the river Eden and turn left onto the B6413 and pass through Kirkoswald (fairly steepish climb) and turn left after passing Kirkoswald, the path takes to Stanfield we turn left after reaching the road, we follow this road for 800 m and follow a short path to Cross house, we pass Ruckcroft on a road and after passing Rose farm we turn left along a path and track to Longdales, we come to a road were we turn left and shortly after we turn right in to Coombs wood, we follow the main path all the way to Armathwaite bridge,we cross over the bridge and turn left and then right up a short steep rise to the railway line,we cross the line and turn right which takes us to the railway station at Armathwaite. The start of the walk is at 0845 after the arrival of the 0824 train from Carlisle. If coming by car the Lazonby Station car park is usually taken by factory staff but the road leading to the station has spaces. The return train from Armathwaite is at 1316 or 1541. This leg of the walk is through rural terrain and may be muddy in some places. The walk is 8 miles approximately with couple of steepish climbs.
