This is a variation on a walk we tried to recce earlier in the year. Of course, now the rivers are no longer flooded and there was no mud on our recent recce. It is a virtually flat and varied walk, with some steps, but no stiles. It’s all along good paths, from Leamington Spa to Warwick Castle and back. We walk along parts of the Centenary Way, rivers, canals and through very pleasant parks in Leamington and Warwick. Inevitably, there is some road walking and a couple of busy roads to cross.
Parking by the leisure centre at Newbold Comyn Park is free. There are toilets in the leisure centre, or a short distance from the start of the walk in Jephson Gardens. Towards the end of the walk, in Victoria Park, there is an excellent place to buy ice cream!
There have been warnings of the A46 being closed from Saturday 12 April for three weeks, so be prepared for possible delays, although there was no sign of any delays coming along the M40/ A452 on the weekend of 12 /13 April.
