Overview

The walk will start from the Sizewell (temporarily free) car park. We will walk through the Wild Aldhurst reserve to Leiston Abbey. Then onto Theberton church. In the porch is a piece of the Zeppelin airship, shot down nearby in 1917. Onto the original Leiston Abbey built in 1182 and dismantled in 1363 to be moved 5 miles. There is Wing and Prayer glass artwork by Arabella Marshall in the remains of the Abbey, and finally back along a grass track beside Sizewell beach to the car park.
