This lovely walk is a highlight of the London Countryway. It has something for everyone - a pleasant walk on a bridleway by a stream; spectacular ridge walking along the Greensand Way with amazing views: country paths through quiet and pretty valleys; orchards, parkland and very little road walking except to and from the start and finish stations. The route passes by Ightham Mote, a stunning medieval manor house (National Trust) and Knole Park House (National Trust), a grand palace with both royal and cultural connections set in a magnificent park through which the walk passes. A walk not to be missed but wear your best boots as it is currently very muddy!
There are some quite steep ascents and descents and a few stiles. There is some road walking to reach the route from Borough Green station at the start and to reach Sevenoaks station at the finish. Bring food and drink as there are no shops other than at the start and finish. Optional visit to The Chequers pub in Sevenoaks at the end!
