Overview

We begin in the sleepy village of Lytchett Matravers, dropping off the gentle hills and ultimately on a fairly level route using good paths and occasional roadways. It takes in the multiple rugged heath and pine-heavy woodland areas in Wareham’s hinterland, tracing long stretches of the Wareham Forest Way, as well as Poole Harbour Trail and the Hardy Way, including a hop up to a high point at ancient Woolsbridge Fort, and a vinous surprise near the end of our walk.

Lytchett has two pubs and we are likely to find ourselves at one for refreshments at the finish.

NOTE: only street parking is available – please car share wherever possible.

Our group walks at a fairly brisk pace, please consider the level of fitness needed for the walk distance. If you have any concerns please contact the walk leader in advance.
