Train-based walk

Leader: Mary, meeting at Walk Start

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform, at Piccadilly station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train or at the station in Macclesfield.

Transport to Walk Start: 09:46 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Stoke-on-Trent).

Suggested Ticket: Off-Peak Day Return to Macclesfield £12.50

Walk Start: Macclesfield railway station at 10:30.

Waypoints: Higherfence, Barracks Lane, Higher Hurdsfield, Swanscoe Farm, Kerridge, Bollington Recreation Ground, Macclesfield Canal, Middlewood Way.

Return Services: x:06, x:17, x:37 & x:43 until 20:17, then 20:43, 21:06, 21:17, 22:06, 22:25, 22:47, 23:05.

Extra: Toilets at Walk Start and en route at the lunch stop at Macclesfield Recreation Park. Optional pub visit at the end of the walk at The Castle.

This is a mainly flat walk with small undulations. We will be walking on canal towpaths, across fields and along an old train route (Middlewood Way).

Some sections may be muddy.

No dogs please, other than registered assistance dogs. Please wear footwear with a good sole for walking - please no Crocs/sandals.
