Two castles & 809 years of history! The Magna Carta Walk is 8.5 miles long (there & back = 8.5 x 2- i.e. 17 miles) between Castle Hedingham & Clare. It retraces the route that would have been taken by messengers of two of the principal rebels in the lead-up to the revolt. Picnic lunch stop in Clare Country Park is recommended (but Clare also has a small cafe, a Co-op & pubs). Like the medieval messengers, we'll do the walk both ways in a day. Flat walk, 2 stiles, a mix of good cinder track & footpaths. NB: This is not a "brisk style" walk, all are welcome, but please be aware that given the length of the walk & the hours of daylight available in January we cannot dawdle.
