Mark Cross is located at the intersection of Rotherfield, Wadhurst and Eridge Parishes. It is an ancient settlement dating from 790 BC located on a pre-historic road (now the A267). It used to have its own Magistrates court. There are commanding views south across undulating countryside - once the centre of the iron industry signified by Snape House (an old Iron Masters House). Plenty of ancient by-ways; water mills and windmills along the way. Optional drink and pot luck bite to eat at the end at The Lazy Fox PH.
Bring picnic lunch. No stopping places on route. The Lazy Fox does breakfast for anyone wanting to eat before the walk starts.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
