Overview

We start at the stately Penshurst Place before heading out west towards the National Trust village of Chiddingstone and the lovely castle grounds. We then head south to the highest point of the walk at Chiddingstone Hoath.

We then start our decent to meet the Medway at Chafford Bridge having gone through the Penshurst  Point to Point course and the delightful hamlet of Bassetts Mill.  We then follow the Medway all the way to Penshurst via Swaylands and enter the village by the ancient river crossing.

Will will stop at a suitable location by the river for a picnic lunch, to be followed by a drink at The Leicester Arms when we arrive back in Penshurst.

This walk is being led by West Kent Walking Group as part of the High Weald Walking Festival
