Overview

Latest- With the possible disruptions this Sunday to the running of the trains from Piccadilly Station to Marple Station, we are now using the bus services No 192 from Piccadilly to Stockport then the No 383 to Marple Station.

The bus services are as follows-

Catch the No 192 bus from Piccadilly EP Stop – No 192 run every 5-10 mins.  You need to catch at the latest the 9.46 bus to arrive to Stockport Mersey Square @10.15.  Then a short 3 mins walk to Stockport Interchange to catch the No 383 bus from Stand K @ 10.30, arriving at Marple Station @ 11.05.  The walk will start @ 11.10 from Marple Station.  The Walk Leader, Pauline(07394 687183), will meet party at Stockport Interchange at Stand K  for the no 383 bus @ 10.30 to Marple Station. 

Return journey – From Marple Station there are buses 383 & 384 running every 15 mins back to Stockport to catch the No 192 bus running every 5-10mins back to Piccadilly. 

Please note that in the event that the 10.45 train from Piccadilly Station is running, the walk leader, Pauline, will wait for the arrival of the train due at 11.06 in Marple Station before starting the walk.

The walk will start at Marple station after the arrival of the 10.45 from Manchester Piccadilly due at 11.06.

Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train.

Train ticket - both stations are within the Greater Manchester boundary so the best ticket will depend on concessions &/ other journeys made on the day.

Car parking available at Marple station.

Walk route - Marple station, Brabyns Park, Compstall, Etherow Country Park Visitor Centre, Etherow Park Weir, Keg Pool, Visitor Centre, Compstall, River Goyt, Marple station.

Expected time back at Marple station - no later than 3.00pm
