Overview

We will commence our walk from the Martin Down car park and follow the Roman Road to ascend to Ox Drove. We shall descend to the village of Martin and then ascend Blagdon Hill where we shall break for lunch. We will descend beside the ancient excavation of Bokerley Ditch to pick up the Jubilee Trail to the summit of Penbury Knoll with fine views of Cranbourne Chase. We shall descend to the hamlet of Pentridge and follow paths back to the Ditch to complete our circuit.

Footpaths are mainly good but can be muddy after rain. The summits are exposed so prepare for February weather with boots and layered clothing, waterproofs etc. There are some stiles and four moderate ascents and descents. There are no toilet facilities on the route. Please bring a packed lunch. 

After the walk we may be taking optional refreshments at the Horton Inn. 

The car park is situated on A354 about 2.5 miles NW of the Sixpenny Handley Roundabout. Please consider car share to the venue.
