Overview

A circular walk through the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From the car park we follow the Mordiford Loop Walk over Backbury HIll to the hamlet of Checkley, crossing Joneshill Farm, a Nature Reserve managed by Plantlife. We head south through Haugh Woods, picking up some of the Wye Valley Walk before entering Nupend Wood, an SSSI managed by the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, and part of the Woolhope Dome Living Landscape. From Fownhope Park Woods we pick up the Wye Valley Walk again to the conservation village of Mordiford, home of the famous Mordiford Dragon, walking over Marion's Hill back to the car park. Stunning  Herefordshire meadowland and ancient woods, home to rare orchids and butterflies.
