Overview

A short sharpener prior to our AGM and Sunday lunch in Bere Regis.

This walk almost entirely features Dorset’s farming heritage as we encounter hedgerows and grassy or crop-filled fields and sheep and cow-grazed pasture to the max, apart from briefly edging the busy A35 and our start/finish in the village of Milborne St Andrew. Substantially flat apart from the odd dip and rise of the mostly gentle contours in this area, and with few stiles, it’s fairly leisurely!

We will travel the six minutes afterwards to meet at the Royal Oak in Bere Regis.

Note: our group walks quite briskly; while this route isn’t demanding of terrain or distance, if you have any concerns about fitness/capability please contact the walk leader in advance.

Milborne St Andrew, outside a cottage called Little England (street of same name) Please car share where possible as it's street parking only. From Bere Regis or from A35: Following the road out of Bere Regis signposted to Milborne, follow the quite narrow lane all the way to a crossroads at the edge of Milborne, and go straight over (if from the A35 it will be a left turn instead) into a street called Homefield then follow this past houses on the right until you reach a right bend where it’s named and signed Little England. Park considerately anywhere here at the roadside and walk down to the cottage seen on your left. From the A354 into Milborne village: Driving through the village from either direction look for the post office on the main street and turn into The Causeway, also signed to the village hall, then follow this until reaching a sweeping left bend when you will see a large thatched timber cottage on the right called Little England. Park considerately anywhere beyond here at the roadside.
