Overview

Hello Everyone

A very slight change to the programme this Sunday if you will. We're still walking to Milwich between Stone and Uttoxeter, but starting & finishing at nearby Sandon on the A51 Rugeley to Stone road. Our walk features a few little hills, lots of fields, history, & stiles. Fancy it? Excellent! You're welcome to join us.

Registration: 09.30.  Walk start: 09.45.  Walk leader: Richard (07846 800604)

No facilities at the start but loo's a possibility at lunchtime.

Post walk refreshments to be taken in the Dog & Doublet, Sandon, over the road from where we've parked.

Directions: The start is located just off the A51 some ten miles northwest of Rugeley, Staffordshire.

From Hednesford take the A460 to Rugeley where turn left at the Miners Island, still A460 direction Stafford and Stone. Pick up the A51 a mile out of Rugeley and continue for another mile to the double mini-islands at Wolseley Bridge where turn right at the second of these keeping to the A51, direction Stone.

Proceed on the A51 for 8 miles via Weston to then enter Sandon at the end of a long dual carriageway section. Shortly after the 40 mph restriction turn left onto the B5066, then immediately right into the parking area with care. Road level screenshot in the photos above.

Also easy to access from the north via the A34 and A51 southbound to Sandon.

⚠️Roadworks update 27th June. Parts of the B5066 from Stafford to Sandon are closed until September. Please use the A518 from Stafford to Weston and then the A51 north to Sandon, or possibly the A34 north from Stafford to Aston island and the the A51 south to Sandon. With thanks to both Nige and Richard for the heads up.👍

⚠️🅿️Limited space so car sharing strongly advised. Don't block the lane please. Park in line on either side where possible, respecting other users some of whom may require through access. Thank you.
