We are the Stone Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is the sixth of a series of 6 linear walks (all on selected Thursdays through to July 27) that follow the Stone Circle Challenge walk in the Stone Circles book. This came about because I have walked all the smaller Stone Circles but not the large one and wanted to do this. Dividing it into 6 makes for very manageable walks averaging 6 miles, not a challenge at all. This last walk of the series is gentle and will be taken at a leisurely pace. It is on fields, tracks and minor roads. Some of the fields are a little uneven underfoot and there is a small patch of bog, but mostly paths are good. There are pretty brooks and peacocks.
If you are not coming to the meeting point in Stone it is essential you telephone Nicky because I will need to know how many people and how many cars you are taking to Salt. We need a maximum of two people per car and ideally cars that will hold four people for car sharing. Bring a picnic lunch.
