We are the Lower Wye Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
An easy walk along the towpaths of both southern arms of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal. The walk starts from the Fourteen Locks visitor centre and heads towards Newport, before turning onto the Brecon branch towards Pontypool. The final leg takes footpaths across fields and past Ynysyfro reservoirs back to the visitor centre where refreshments will be available. Although these sections of the canal are not navigable they do provide a haven for wildlife.
There are several stiles on this walk.
Chepstow Leisure Centre car park. Car share places cannot be guaranteed. Post on WhatsApp if wanting or offering car share. Car share levy £3.50
From Junction 27 of the M4 take the B4591 towards Risca. After 700yds turn right into Cefn Walk (with brown sign for Fourteen Locks Canal Centre). After another 200yds cross the canal and turn right into the car park.
