Overview

A varied walk with excellent views. We will find various prehistoric and medieval settlements, including burial cairns, one of which is visited. We should also see some deer in the Country Park.

The start of the walk is through some forest, this can be muddy if there has been a lot of rain. Walking sticks are advisable for the incline to the top of the mountain, once there it is mostly forestry tracks with steadier incline.

Take the M4 and come off at the Margram interchange, keep to the right and come off at the 3rd exit onto the A48, you will see a brown sign for Margram Abbey, turn left onto a country road. Follow this for approx 200 yards and you will see on your left at the starting point car spaces for a few cars, if you continue on the road to your right to the Abbey car park, we were able to park the last time using the furthest spaces to the left across from the row of cottages against the Abbey walls.
