Walking in Rhondda and beyond
Based in the southern end of Rhondda Cynon Taff, the group is lucky enough to enjoy Sunday walks each week in a range of areas between the Gower, the Brecon Beacons and the Wye valley including our own Welsh valleys.
These all day walks normally range from 6 to 12 miles with a range of grades between leisurely to moderate+. In addition, our Saturday Strollers hold shorter leisurely morning walks of between 3 to 5 miles on alternative Saturdays while, in the summer months, we run walks on Thursday evenings.
It is important to have suitable footwear and wet weather clothing, warm clothes etc. Bring enough food & drink for a coffee break & lunch on full day walks. New walkers may have three 'taster' walks after which, if they wish to continue to walk with the group, they will be expected to join the Ramblers' Association.
Our walking community
The Group, now with more than 150 members, was formed in 1993 as part of the Ramblers Association. We have a national reputation for our friendly welcome and relaxed attitude on our walks and new walkers are always welcome. So come and enjoy the countryside in the friendly company of fellow walkers. Dogs are welcome on most of our walks but they must be kept under control and be appropriately vaccinated. We also run a number of social evenings, bus trips and week-ends away.
