From Square corner follow the road E a short distance before turning N to follow the wide tracks to Swainby Shooting Lodge. Then follow the track NW above the wood before descending steeply on a gravel track (The Red Way) to the road. Climb up High Lane (the Drovers Road) and follow this to return to the main road where we turn E to return to the cars.
The route is on minor country roads, wide moorland tracks and wasn’t too muddy on my recce. There was one steep descent on a gravel track and one steep ascent on the Drovers Road. There are lovely views along the route (if the weather allows).
Coffee afterwards to be sorted nearer the date in Osmotherley.

Square Corner - From Osmotherley follow the road towards Hawnby until you reach the parking area on the RHS of the roadside at Black Hambledon Hill, (where the road turns a right angle, turning sharply left).
