Meet:             Currie Library 9.15 to leave by 9.30

Walk Start:    Approximately 10.15-10.20  Goose Green Place, Musselburgh

 

Travel directions:   From Currie, take By-pass A720 to A1.  take 2nd opening at roundabout to B6415 and drive to second roundabout, 2nd opening - continue down Monktonhall - Eskmills to junction and traffic lights.  Turn right on to Olive Bank Road, take first left (opposite Tesco) drive down Musselburgh High Street, to just past Lorretto School, turn left at race course, then right to Balcarras Road, continue till near end, turn left into Goose Green Place, drive to end (facing the river).  Meet Here.   

 

Walk:   From Goose Green we walk up the river passing the Archer, continue to main road, cross passing Eskmills Industrial Estate, to river path and to Inveresk House (short break in the garden) cross over to Lewisvale Park, then down the side of the old Edenhall Hospital and coming out at Pinky Drive, cross over and into open ground (new development area) and to the Statues commemorating the Battle of Pinky Cleugh (1547).  Cross over and down Moray Street and then down Ashgrove to the main road.  Crossover road and go round the top end of the racecourse (careful of golf balls), onto dirt track and walk back down towards the mouth of the River.  

Note:  This is a shortened version of the Plaque Walk which I did about 3/4 years ago.

Bring National Trust Cards if you have them for the garden (or bring a coin for a donation)
