Overview

From Parkend we will take a circular route around Nagshead Plantation along a mixture of cycle paths, forest tracks and woodland paths. We will see examples of the industrial heritage of the Forest and have lunch at the picturesque Cannop Ponds before returning to Parkend.

A couple of uphill drags to get the heart pumping but nothing too strenuous. The tracks and paths should be generally good, making this an ideal winter walk.

Parkend has 2 pubs for refreshments post walk: The Fountain and The Woodman.

If coming from Chepstow, take the B4234 from Lydney to Parkend, and turn left at the crossroads after the railway station. Roadside parking is in the centre of Parkend, just past The Fountain. Further offroad parking by the cricket ground, opposite The Woodman.
