This is a mainly rural walk starting at St.Lawrence's Church Napton. The name means "farm on the knap (top) of the hill". From the church we will descend through a small part of the village to pass through meadows, (one of them may be quite wet and muddy(, taking in part of the Millenium Way and passing a spring which feeds the canal feeder. On reaching the Oxford Canal (1790) we will join the towpath. There will be views over the Warwickshire countryside and up to Napton, and we will pass a number of locks on the way. Leaving the canal we will take the only climb to the edge of the village and up to the Windmill, a great Warwickshire landmark.
Refreshments can be obtained after the walk at The Folly pub, which contains some "charming bygones"
This is a level walk with just one climb towards the end. We will follow field paths, lanes and the canal towpath. There are 11 stiles. Toilets are rural.
There were disinterested cattle in one field on the recce. There are a couple of very short narrow sections on the towpath where the canal bank has collapsed.
