The walk is 6.2 miles on good well maintained tracks.
The walk is entirely on well maintained tracks and a quiet stretch of road with only a few steps to climb near the end of the walk. Sticks may be used but the terrain is easily managed without them. We began at Newburn Activity Centre and walk to the north bank of the River Tyne where we will walk for about a mile before joining the Newburn – Wylam waggon way. We will then walk for about two miles on the waggon way until we reach our lunch stop at Wylam. From there we cross over the bridge to the south bank where spectacular views of the River Tyne can be seen. We will then follow well made tracks back to Newburn. Refreshments are available at the Keelman Pub just near the car park.
Warning. The surface of the car park is in a very bad condition. Care is required to avoid large pot holes. The car park is free.
