This is a walk led by Barbara, a Wellbeing walk leader who would like to try some longer walks with our group. These walks, if popular, will be once a month on a Monday. Text to say attending appreciated.
11.5 miles (with shorter 10 mile option). A walk that starts from the East side of Oakley with easy access to a public footpath which crosses over a level crossing track and two roads, before entering into ancient pathways of the Manydown Estate then up onto the East section of Wessex Downland. Extensive views can be enjoyed for this rural downland section, before descending down and around Oakley fields. The short Oakley loop, section can be omitted depending on group preference / underfoot conditions on the day to a shorter 10 mile distance.
There will be two shortish snack /sandwich stops. There could be some muddy sections, but majority of the paths will be well drained. There is a village cafe nearby for those wanting refreshments at the end.
