Join us for a Dog Friendly rural walk which features fascinating links with historic energy sources, such as the Paulton section of the Somerset Coal Canal, which once thrived carrying coal from local coalfields, and the charming Cam Brook, which once powered watermills.

We have a few small steep hills to climb up and down, but it's worth it for the superb countryside views.

You may find a walking pole helpful for the slopes, and possible muddy sections.

Please bring something to drink and a picnic for short stops along the way.

No toilets, but plenty of hedges.

Walk starts 11.20 am from the Welcome to Clandown sign, Smallcombe Road, Clandown, Radstock BA3 3DT (not BA3 3BL). Drivers: plenty of spaces on opposite side of the A367 in Bristol Road BA3 3EQ, (it's easiest to come down the A367 from the Bath direction, and turn left into Bristol Rd). From Bristol Rd, walk back across the A367 via the traffic island, and into Smallcombe Rd. Alternatively, park considerately in Clandown. Buses: number 522 leaves Bath bus station at 10.40, arriving at Smallcombe Rd stop on A367 at 11.03. The 522 bus leaves Bristol bus station at 09.25, arriving at Smallcombe Rd stop at 10.59.
