We meet in The Mount car park in the ancient and pretty market town of Princes Risborough. Our walk goes through the town before ascending up to Whiteleaf Hill where the views are magnificent. We continue past the Plough pub at Cadsden which is a “local” for residents at Chequers - who may we spot having a quiet drink?! We continue through the attractive Grangelands Nature Reserve then along paths and through beech woods and arrive at the oldest Smock windmill in England. Our route back to the end takes us across five railways including a spectacular cutting and the heritage steam railway to Chinnor. There is still enough autumn colour to make for some stunning scenery. Hopefully a bit of sunshine will greatly enhance the views.
Please note a slightly EARLIER START TIME to avoid the risk of completing in bad light. Some of the paths are steep and chalky so bring your walking sticks along. Some paths will be muddy so good walking boots will be required. Toilets are available shortly after leaving at 10:15 and al-fresco the rest of the day.
All are welcome but if you are not a regular walker with our group please bring along an emergency contact number.
We will stop for snacks and a picnic lunch on the way. Drinks and snacks are also available in town as we leave. Lunch will be sitting on damp tree trunks so a padded mat would be desirable.
Some fields have horses so dogs will have to be on a lead.
There are just two (but sturdy) stiles on this walk.
