This will be a linear walk (apx 10miles, 16km) along Regent’s Canal from Paddington to Limehouse Basin. Regent's Canal is an 8.6-mile stretch of waterway that connects the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal to the River Thames at Limehouse Basin.
The Regent's Canal in London officially opened in 1820, it's purpose was to create a crucial waterway for transporting goods across the city during the industrial revolution. Today, walking along Regent's Canal from Paddington to Limehouse offers a diverse tour of London neighbourhoods. Starting at Little Venice, the route passes through Maida Vale, Regent’s Park, and the bustling Camden Town with its famous Camden Lock. It continues through King’s Cross, St Pancras Basin, Islington, Hackney, and Victoria Park, before passing through Mile End. The walk concludes at Limehouse Basin, where the canal joins the River Thames.
Bring a packed lunch and snacks, we will stop for a lunch break along the way.
We finish at Limehouse Station, served by both the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and National Rail services.
There will be an option to unwind at a nearby pub afterward.
Toilets : There are only a couple of public toilets on route, plus one at Paddington Station, other than that, opportunities are scarce.
Meeting Point: Paddington Station 10.00 (10.15 Start)
We’ll meet in the main concourse near the customer information booth adjacent to platforms 1 and 2. The toilets are on Platform 1, and there are many cafes and shops in the station.
