Overview

A walk that begins in Hampshire at historic Ringwood on the river Avon, from which we head through the extensive pinewoods that encircle Moors Valley Country Park, skirting the centre of the park to pass the model railway and its little station, and parts of the golf course. We then cross into Dorset briefly, skirting Verwood, before heading through Ringwood Forest, ultimately (if it’s not too waterlogged, but there is an alternative) crossing the Avon’s flood plain to reach Ibsley, joining the Avon Valley Path at this point. We follow its trail southward, passing the lakes at Rockford and Blashford, before returning to Ringwood. We’d expect to find refreshment at one of the pubs in the town, very near to our start point.

Please be aware that we walk at a reasonably brisk pace, it’s important to have a decent level of fitness for this distance. Please contact the walk leader if you have any concerns.
