Overview

This walk starts starts at the carpark in a in the village of Ripley. We set off towards Hampsthwaite along the Nidderdale way. Here we can stop here for tea break. Leaving Hampsthwaite there is a short section of road walking, (care to be taken). We then cross some fields and walk close to the river to Birstwith. Passing the wear, we climb up at short steep section over fields to Burnt Yates. Where we can will stop on some picnic benches for lunch. Following  good tracks we then reach the village of Shaw Mills, leaving the village we walk along some quiet country roads crossing the B6165 at Bedlam (care to be taken) we then re trace our steps towards Ripley.

Meet at the Ripley Carpark. (Charges apply up to 8 hrs £4). There is bus from Leeds that goes via Harrogate and stops at Ripley. (Ripley Cross 09.53). Number 36 Harrogate and District. Please check the timetable for any changes.
