Sunday 30 June 10am start from Little Blakey Grid Ref: SE683 990. 10 miles, 1300ft ascent
The walk begins with an easterly descent to Moorlands Farm where a track takes us south to the outskirts of Thorgill. At this point we follow public footpaths to Bell End where a gated access road heads north into the aptly named Northdale. After a drinks stop at the shooting lodge, with its splendid views of this little known dale, we continue through Knottside Plantation to a track which winds its way along the old railway bed on the east side of Rosedale passing on the way disused kilns and quarries, a reminder of the former ironstone industry that flourished in the 19th century. The track continues in a northerly direction to the head of the dale and then south on the west side of the dale back to the cars.
Parking but no public toilets. Assistance dogs only. With prior consent of the leader
