Overview

Hello Everyone

This Sunday we're heading south to explore Sandwell Valley Country Park and the surrounding area (which is prettier than you might think) mainly on tarmac and gravel paths, so little mud all being well, honest guv😂.

As ever, you're welcome to join us. It'd be cool if you could let us know beforehand - even on the morning itself - so that we don't troop off without you, particularly since the latter stages of the drive in are rather technical. Should you find yourself running late please phone us.

Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00.

Plenty of parking and facilities. Loo's at the start and also during the walk. Pub or cafe afterwards as per usual.

See y'all there!

Directions: If you have satnav this'll give it a good workout!😂. Sandwell Valley Country Park is best accessed off the M5 at Junction 1 from where you have 2.5 miles left to drive. Be aware that there are various ways to get here and all of them are a bit of a🐷. Our favoured route is as follows.

From your home location take the M6 south and then the M5. Exit the M5 at Junction 1 West Bromwich. Keep in the right hand lane up the slip road and follow the road markings for A41 E'WAY to take the fifth exit A41 signed for West Bromwich etc, also a brown sign for Sandwell Park Farm which is on the same road as our start point.

After 0.75 mile at the footbridge and All Saints Interchange leave the A41 and take the slip road up to the A4031 island. Essentially you are now going to double back parallel to the A41 (satellite screenshot in the photos).

Keep in the left hand lane to take the first exit, with a Tesco filling station and Premier Inn visible on your left.

After 200 yards at the next island take the first exit onto Congregation Way, Premier Inn and Tesco station still on your left, then after 150 yards turn right at the island, still Congregation Way, and proceed for 400 yards to yet another island where turn left into Reform Street and over the A41 which you travelled on a few minutes ago.

After 250 yards turn right in front of the Crown & Cushion pub (photo) into Lloyd Street which becomes Dagger Lane, then 400 yards later turn right into Salter's Lane (photo) signed here for Sandwell Valley Country Park.

100 yards later turn right into the Country Park entrance and follow the road through for 500 yards where the main car park is situated on your right. Day charge here is £2.00.
